The freshly modded packages have the suffix "final". When trying to install Vista, I used the v9. I think it actually happened during reboot.
At this point, I abandoned trying to install v9. So, after Vista install was complete, I went in, following the instructions at the top of this thread to update all three drivers, one by one, to v9. I then verified that each was at v9. Anyway, I then reboot. After reboot, all of these are still intact. However, Vista keeps adding additional drivers to the list.
So, I tried updating both those and rebooting, but they came back. I then tried uninstalling just those devices, but after reboot they come back. Therefore, for now I have decided to once again install Vista from scratch, and I will just leave it at v8. At this point I just need to get Vista loaded and running, and v9. I did note that v9. Now the only question I have is whether I should stick with the v8. Thanks again for your help and assistance.
I am not sure about that. This folder contains all needed drivers v. You obviously have done something wrong either with installing or updating the nForce IDE drivers. Don't install the MediaShield part of the I am installing Vista x I have tried this, two different ways, as I explained in my message above. At this point I can't see what I have done wrong installing the drivers. I have tried this, fresh, several different way.
After reboot and as I log on, Vista says that it needs to reboot to finish installing drivers. If I uninstall those v8. I'm really starting to think that the v9. Click on 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then browse to where the AMD installer extracted the files.
