Windows install disk repair
Thanks for your feedback. Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the ISO file pitty microsoft didn't include the words repair and recovery in the title. Loaded the file to a flash drive and my desktop PC computer will not recognise it. Tried burning the file to DVD however my windows 10 laptop the desktop PC is the one with trouble tells me the file is too large.
I have an AMD laptop and a windows i7 k PC desktop I did burn a start up disc from the laptop however the PC will not recognise the disc, it says it is a non system disc.
I have also burnt a recovery disk from another intel descktop and all I get is that it is not a system disc. I redownloaded the ISO file to an SD card and that worked but only as far as making me type in the product license number then select express or custom install.
It will not go further. The recovery tool we're going to use is run from the command prompt, which can thankfully be accessed through the Windows installation disc.
To get there, don't click Install Now in the middle of the screen, but instead click Repair Your Computer in the lower left. Click Next on the first menu that pops up.
The next menu will have two radio buttons. Make sure the first one is selected, and note that in the text box, your System drive might not have the drive letter C. If that's the case, make a note of the drive letter used. Click Next, and on the following screen image above , select the bottom option, marked Command Prompt. Finally you're ready to scan your system files for errors.
To do that simply run the following command:. There should be no square brackets in the command image below. Windows will now attempt to find and repair any errors in your system files. If the scan finds errors, you may need to repeat the steps in this guide until it finds no more errors. To restart your computer, enter the exit command, then click the Restart button. Wonders if the iso used has to match that is currently installed as that was the limitation on other repair installs?
I always have my current version of windows on a flash drive for this. You can also update to the new version of windows this way without using windows update. That's how I update when I'm ready to go to the newest version because my internet connection at home is horrible so I download it somewhere else.
