Error ghost norton
Reg: Apr Accepted Solution. DNDN, Weird. But you can use Ghost to create images to your folder in the external HD? Can you see the image when you boot using the Ghost CD?
View Accepted Solution in Context. At this point, it should be possible to edit the MSI and disable this action to see if that solves the error without preventing Ghost from working. I'm amazed it's taking so long for Symantec to solve this issue, as any competent MSI packager should be able to diagnose the cause within a few minutes from the logfile, and if they can't duplicate the error in house, certainly they could get the log from any of the affected users who have logged calls.
I have called a tech--In India -- who did not have the answer but said A "supervisor" would call me in 24 hours. So far no call. How about all of us asking for our money back -- maybe that will speed up the process. You can call Norton by using the "Budines" option under support. Skip to main content Press Enter.

Have you tried turning off the UAC? Also, are you running these installs elevated? The external destination drive runs NTFS as well. My next step is to run a chkdsk on the destination drive. What's strange however, is that the back up of my D Drive also goes to the same external hard drive, although to a different directory. I have also turned off the verification of the back up of the C Drive to see if this does anything.
If chkdsk doesn't do anything, you can try running a manual "one time backup" into the same folder the D drive backs up into. If you still get the same error, try running it onto an internal drive. You should at least be able to tell if the problem is the destination or the source. Edit- Make sure it's not a permission or ownership problem as well. Check to see that the folder has full read-write permission for everyone.
Ran a chkdsk, and changed the directory where the back ups go to. None of my other back ups crash, nor do back ups of my C Drive crash when directed to a different physical external drive. I will try turning off the drive in question and then turn it back on. I'm also going to try and set up a new back up job for the C Drive. Permissions aqnd ownership should not be an issue, as this is a straight external USB drive connected directly to the laptop, and back ups ran fine until late last week.
I do daily back ups of 2 additional drives to the same external hard drive with no problem. If uninstalling Norton Ghost fails to resolve the issue, try removing the following registry keys as appropriate for your type of machine and OS. Note: Symantec suggests that you export a copy of the registry before making any changes. If the above suggestions fail or does not fully remove Norton Ghost, then contact the Norton support team for further information on how to manually uninstall Norton Ghost.
